Framework For Funding

The mission of United Way of Citrus County is targeted at advancing the common good in our local communities. Our goal is to create a better life for all, focused on the building blocks of a good life- education, income, and health. United Way of Citrus County funded partners are encourage to focus on programs and strategies that will most effectively help people gain access to educational, economic and health related opportunities. The ability to measure and communicate the results of this investment is of primary importance to this partnership.

Consideration for funding includes the following priorities of the United Way of Citrus County :

Organization that has the following documentation: 501(c)(3) approval letter, most recent IRS Form 990 (or IRS 990 EZ), current Florida Solicitation of Contributions Act Registration Letter, Florida Certificate of Corporation and most recent audit or financial review completed by an independent CPA

Programs with a baseline program budget, a proposed program budget for the next fiscal year and uses the accrual accounting method

Program focus related to helping children and youth achieve their potential, promoting financial stability that leads toward independence, or improving people's health

Programs which meet a well-defined community need in Citrus County

Programs with measurable outcomes which are clearly defined and tracked for results

Programs which maximize resources, coordinate efforts, and work with local partners to achieve goals

Programs with diverse revenue support including other funding sources, volunteer and/or in-kind support

Programs not duplicated by other services/programs currently available

Programs directed by organizations with solid administrative and fiscal oversight

Programs maintain management, general and fundraising costs below 20% in aggregate

Programs do not discriminate in eligibility to receive services nor requires attendance at religious services in order to receive services

Organization that has strong oversight by a diverse, volunteer Board of Directors, independent of administrative staff, that meets quarterly and provides meeting minutes

Organization maintains a website and is currently listed on 2-1-1

Organization has a Preliminary Application approved by the United Way of Citrus County Board of Directors
